Limited Edition From the Tate Modern ( London ) 2020 Exhibition
Pop an icon on your sofa with this Marilyn cushion cover, created especially for our 2020 Andy Warhol exhibition at Tate Modern. Using a single image from the monochrome panel of Warhol’s 1962 piece, Marilyn Diptych , with the original exhibition dates and title printed in the corner. The cushion cover is backed by a solid green.
To create Marilyn Diptych, 1962, Andy Warhol used a publicity photograph of Monroe for the 1953 film Niagara, and printed the image repeatedly. Mrs Burton Tremaine, who bought the original canvases from Warhol at his studio with her husband in 1962,said that it was her idea that the coloured canvas and the black and white should be a diptych, to which Warhol replied ‘Gee whizz yes’.
Dimensions: 46 x 46 cm.
Materials: 100% organic cotton.
Wash at 30˚, and don’t tumble dry. Please iron inside out, and never use bleach on your cushion cover.
